Regenesis F@H!

Thanks for sharing that, Bomba. I know it wasn't easy. We all have our reasons for F@H. Some are more personal than others. I'm glad you didn't leave your sis alone on her birthday.

This stuff really gets me sometimes. Your loss was totally avoidable and it really pisses me off. The fact that life is treated like its so disposable. it's just stupid.

I lost my grandfather to ALS and a kid I went to high school with to a brain tumor. That kid was a fucking genious, too. Such waste. Hopefully, someday we can stop wasting life. it's much too precious.

Ok. Enough of this soapbox.

Thanks again for sharing, Bomba.

Because I don't use my desktop at night, I'll run it full load. Maybe during school hours as well.

Tig, the FAH Tracker seems to be a dead link, at least for me. You should link to the Stanford webpage where you can download and start it up with extreme ease.

I'm going to leave the FAH tracker link for now because Google cache shows it was online yesterday (link) so I'm hoping this is a temporary thing. Will check back on it again in a few days.

What is Folding@home?

Folding@home (FAH) is a project run by Stanford University that uses the computers of volunteers to perform medical research, in an effort to find cures for many diseases. The FAH software is easy and fast to download, set up, and turn on and off; i.e. you could turn it off for gaming and back on when you're AFK.

Why is [RE] Involved in FAH?

FAH is >250,000 computers strong. But I roughly estimate that the gaming community has at its disposal more than 9-10x the computing power of the entire current FAH project. One of my goals for Regenesis is to rally other clans and gamers behind FAH to harness some of that power for everyone's benefit.

FAH has already proven its use to the scientific and medical community; by contributing, you could be saving your own life or that of someone you love. What if you get cancer one day? What if your grandfather is diagnosed with Alzheimer's, as mine was?

J_Rod and I, from Regenesis' inception, decided it wouldn't be enough to create "just another clan". Regenesis is bigger than just gaming, and FAH gives us an opportunity to do something meaningful that we as gamers are uniquely qualified to do.

How Do I Get Started?

[align=justify]Download FAH GPU Tracker and install using the Setup Guide. Enter your Regenesis forum user name next to Name, and 174132 next to Team. Done.

I want to contribute to FAH as much as possible and am happy to help if you have any trouble getting started. Post any problems here.

For those who choose to fold with us, I offer you my sincere, heartfelt thanks.

I'm sorry for your loss, AI_CoolTIM. it's not easy losing a loved one. it's especially difficult when you're close and you watch them slowly slip away knowing there's nothing you can do to reverse time.

we've all lost loved ones. Hopefully, someday, this project can find a way to turn that clock back a little. Once I get real internet, I'll be running this on my PC again. Here's to those we've lost:  :toast:  3322))

If setup correctly, it can be ran only when your machine is idle.
