Fallout 76 / Lead
« on: February 05, 2019, 07:54:35 pm »
I recently found a way to get >750 lead scrap in 5 minutes. (~250 if you don't have Excavator Power Armor and lvl3 of Super Duper).

Lucky Hole Mine:

Expect to encounter spiders or radrats outside and inside, and Mole Miners inside as well. Nothing too challenging and not too many enemies.

It takes me ~4½ minutes from fast traveling to Lucky Hole Mine, to being done and fast traveling back to my base. I probably missed a bunch of veins and I ran around most enemies. I was aiming for speed since 76 is grindy enough without wasting time on stuff like this.

Once inside the mine, you're looking for lead veins, which look like this:

Veins are found in various places (especially deeper in the mind), but you can reliably find four in each recess along the shafts like this:

Don't forget to check ceilings!

Deeper in the mine you'll also find crystal veins, which look similar to lead.

Once complete, smelt at a chemistry bench. 2 lead ore + 1 acid = 5 lead scrap. Use Super Duper while smelting to get ~30% more on average. Chemist doesn't help with smelting by the way.

Other Games / Regenesis in Fallout 76

So I've had a lot of time lately, while my hands are busy holding bottles and changing diapers, to watch videos. This has given me some time to learn more about Fallout 76, the first multiplayer Fallout game ever. Now Fallout easily is my favorite single-player game franchise, although I only started with Fallout 3 and haven't played the earlier titles. I'm drawn in above all else by the sense of possibility that comes with open-world, nonlinear gameplay and exploration, along with the idea that the player can have a real impact on the game world. That freedom of discovery is about as close to multiplayer as Fallout could be, until now.

Fallout 76 was announced May 30th:

Yep, I've wanted the even greater emergent gameplay possibilities of multiplayer in Fallout for a long time. Yet there are a lot of questions to answer. How well can Fallout really translate when accommodating 24+ players per map, especially with systems like VATS that seem bound to a single player's experience of time, and the emphasis on NPC and story writing and development. This and many other questions won't be answered until some time after FO76 is released, but some are being answered now and I think this game holds great promise.

Bethesda's E3 2018 Fallout 76 Gameplay Presentation:

This for me is a return to excitement in multiplayer gaming. I still enjoy CoD4 and Minecraft, and this is the third in that short list of multiplayer titles in the past decade that have really excited me. Regenesis has been involved in many others: other Call of Duty games, various Battlefield and Counter Strike titles, ESO, and some less popular titles that didn't last long here (or in general haha). This is the first multiplayer game to come along since Minecraft where I can say I don't care what anyone else does, I'm playing it. Oh, and it looks like there will be dedicated servers…

Here's a nicely produced documentary on the making of the game by NOCLIP:

So I think now is a good time to bust out Fallout 3, 4, New Vegas … or maybe just play through all of them. :P I currently have a Fallout 4 playthrough in-progress (though I'm not progressing fast haha), and hope to rekindle some Fallout discussion here in our forums. Because I think Fallout should be the next big Regenesis thing. I have a feeling this is going to be a wicked fun game, and I'm excited for the possible community we can build around it here at Regenesis.

Minecraft / Old Minecraft Creations
« on: May 15, 2018, 06:30:33 pm »
Did you play Minecraft and create something cool in a Regenesis server that's no longer online? If so, I'd like to find your creations and bring them forward into our new Minecraft server, built and run by [RE]Giant. You can find that server at

If you want one or more of your old creations to be copied to the new servers, please post here, or send me a PM on the forums or Discord including the coordinates, screenshots, or any other information you can provide. I'll try to find what you made and Giant or I will move it to one of the new servers. Some of these creations may be used near spawn/lobby areas for all to see, and you'll have an opportunity to update/add to them if you like.

Okay all you hungover (by the time you see this, I'm guessing) fools, how did you usher in 2018?

It was a quiet loud night in for me. This album…

Other Games / Fav Fallout 4 Mods
« on: December 29, 2017, 01:08:33 pm »
Hey everyone! I never had the Fallout 4 DLCs until recently and have just started playing the game again. A while back I reinstalled Windows and just copied the game files over from my old install. Same with Nexus Mod Manager (NMM), which I use to manage all the plug-ins/mods (makes installing most mods a two-click job). But some of my mods aren't appearing in NMM, so I'm back at the Nexus checking out the latest and getting some new ones.

Back in Fallout 3, one of my favorite mods was the DCInteriors Project. By the time I started playing FO3 with mods, I'd explored enough to be frustrated with boarded-up places, so DCInteriors was a real eye-opener. Now I'm setting up some similar mods for FO4 and wondering if any Regenesis peeps have favorite FO4 mods (of this or any other type)?

By the way, here's what I'm adding right now:

Will update this post with my full mod list later, gonna try these out first!

I've got a controversial statement for you all.

I'm okay with government surveillance because it's necessary and I've got nothing to hide.

Everything Else / Dear Mr. Trump #1
« on: October 13, 2017, 10:00:06 am »
Well Mr. Trump, I shouldn't be surprised by your recent executive order. After all, you've been equally hypocritical when it comes to the time you spend golfing and taking taxpayer-funded vacations after chiding President Obama for doing the same.

PolitiFact: Trump Plays More Golf

But it's not your hypocrisy that caught me off-guard. It's that you have now bypassed not only the democratic process but the clear wishes of the American people; a clear majority has disapproved of every repeal effort made so far. Why do you think Congress isn't getting it done? It's because they got lambasted by their constituents back home, who actually have to deal with the fallout when the state fails in its function of providing for the general welfare (a qualification for taxing power BTW).

Seeing the best in people has done a lot more good in my life than cynicism, and we can't get anywhere if we don't start from a position of good faith. So while many of my fellow Americans think you're an asshole, Mr. Trump, I believe you're genuinely doing what you believe to be right. But I also think your history (and tweets) suggests a tempestuous nature that makes you ill-suited to good decision making.

I don't think you're even aware of how much you're attacking things Obama did just because he did them, not on their merits. The Iran Deal is another good example. But back to the ACA, what is your reasoning behind this? Is it about the overall costs? Let's look past campaign BS: the purpose of the economy is to facilitate the exchange of resources in a way that maximizes society's happiness. That's the heart of the entire fucking thing.

I know you've never personally had to neglect your own healthcare because you couldn't afford it, but I have. And when I did, it cost me more in the long run. That means I was less productive, paid less taxes, contributed less to society, and was less happy in the long run. Purely from a pragmatic point of view, it is ignorant and foolish not to advocate for taking care of the masses from the get-go so they don't become a burden later.

If you really want America to be great, start doing things that are right, not just things that feel good.

General / A Rambling Realization
« on: October 01, 2017, 12:45:29 pm »
TLDR: just me being an open book, rambling on…

The events of September made me realize something: even though I'd always said Regenesis was more than "just another clan," and touted it as a unique community, I was just toeing the line. Don't get me wrong, I was blown away by the people, the memories, and the accomplishments of this community. But I didn't really believe we were unique.

After all, there are thousands of gaming communities out there, and although I've been too focused on Regenesis to really look, I assume many have outstanding qualities. We can't be the only ones who put life before gaming, hold admins and leaders accountable, or advocate for freedom of gameplay and speech, or stand against prejudice and hate.

But then our VPS went down, and I couldn't find a damn place to play. Where are the great CoD4 and Minecraft servers and communities I assumed are out there that do all that … that don't cut corners on performance … where admins are cool, rules make sense, and people treat each other like human beings?

I wasn't prepared for how much you all cared, or how much you'd be willing to help rebuild, because until this happened I didn't know how unique this place, in fact, is. It's not unique because of me, or because of you. IMO it's because here we all genuinely come together to have fun, and moreover to be better, build something better, and be part of something better.

Up to this point I figured people attacked us because they're generally assholes; calling them jealous would just be arrogant. But calling them assholes isn't really better, and now I realize that Regenesis really does stand out, and that seems to make them mad. One clan's members even kept joining our Discord saying they were on top.

On top of what? I don't see any competition.

General / Welcome Back, Regenesis
« on: September 19, 2017, 10:20:16 pm »
This is just a real quick post to welcome everyone back to the Regenesis forums. Following an attack on our VPS, we decided to upgrade to a brand new, up-to-date, fresh installation of our web server and game servers (which will be coming online once all the kinks are ironed out of the web site). If you'd like to keep up on our progress, join us in our Discord!

Thank you all for your patience and support. This incident has brought us together in ways I never imagined, and shown me a resilience and devotion to the ideals Regenesis represents that have left me simply amazed. We've dramatically increased the capabilities and expertise of our Dev Team, which has been instrumental in the progress we've made so far in rebuilding and will be an important part of what comes next.

I don't have a specific timeline or roadmap to share with you all right now, but suffice it to say that Regenesis isn't going anywhere, period. We're not only bouncing back from this, we're going further with a complete redesign of the web site in progress, planning of a lot more events and activity, renewed commitment to expansion and growth, and a number of changes to personnel and structure to put our best people in positions they've earned and where they can really make a positive difference.

Thanks for your patience, and much love to all our members, regulars, and supporters!

General / Please Welcome…
« on: August 01, 2017, 06:46:45 pm »
Please not only welcome, but give your full attention and respect to the new Director of Regenesis, [RE]D-ST1.

D-ST1 has earned my respect as a friend, and my trust to lead Regenesis. Most here know I don't say this lightly. He's risen through our ranks quickly through initiative, dedication, and by distinguishing himself through level-headedness, attention to the principles of this place, and an ability to reach out to all members of our diverse crew, community, and player base.

With immeasurable support from an amazing crew and community, J-Rod and I worked together from 2009 to build a Regenesis we are still proud of to this day. TwiZted served with distinction as the second Director of Regenesis and expanded that vision into what you see now. With no doubt that he will, I've challenged D-ST1 to do better than all of us. Please help him to do so.

Thank you TwiZted for the burden you took on as our second Director, which you carried with dignity. And if I might suggest to others looking to move up the chain, we sure could use a solid new Deputy Director to fill some very big shoes right now.
